Use study check-ins that tell you what to do next

A study notification is more useful when it tells you what to check. Decide on the action first: return to the question, review the last page, or choose the next exercise.

Short answer

Write one concrete study check-in, choose a repeat interval, and keep the supporting detail in notes. Remindly adds personalized titles, sounds, emojis, and background photos. Enable the reminder for the activity and pause it manually when you finish.

Choose the interruption you actually want

If you want uninterrupted work until a block ends, a countdown may fit. If you want to check your direction during a longer activity, a recurring notification can serve that job.

Choose the cadence yourself. Thirty or forty-five minutes are example intervals to try, rather than a proven optimum for studying.

Put the immediate action in the title

Use a title you can understand without opening a long description. Keep page numbers, links you need to find, or the name of the problem set in notes.

Personalize the emoji, sound, and background photo so the study check-in is easy to recognize among other reminders. Remindly keeps these choices with the saved reminder.

Run a simple first session

Enable one reminder before starting and allow iPhone notifications for Remindly. When the nudge appears, do the action you named rather than spending time reorganizing the reminder.

At the end, disable it. An elapsed repeating reminder continues while enabled; the manual pause keeps a study setup ready without carrying it into the rest of your day.

  1. Write one useful check-in title.
  2. Add the supporting study detail in notes.
  3. Choose the repeat interval and enable the reminder.
  4. Pause it after the session.

Change the nudge after trying it

If you keep dismissing it, change the action or give the interval more space. If the title is too broad, replace it with the next physical step, such as opening the saved exercise.

Keep the version that helps you return to the work. Group it in a study category so it is easy to find when you need it again.

Questions

Will the reminder stop when my session ends?

Pause the repeating reminder manually when you finish. You can enable the saved setup for the next session.

Is this a Pomodoro timer?

This workflow uses recurring notifications. For a timed focus block with an endpoint, use a countdown or a focus timer such as Domi’s.
