Short answer
Review today’s unfinished work, capture new thoughts, check tomorrow’s fixed commitments, and schedule one first action. Save the structure as a Domi routine so it is easy to repeat.
Review what is still open
Look at the tasks you worked on today. For unfinished work, write the next action rather than moving the same vague project name forward.
A useful restart note is short: “Check the last two figures,” or “Draft the conclusion from these headings.” It lets tomorrow begin where today ended.
Capture the new thoughts
Give the things you remembered during the day a place in Brain Dump. Add useful suggestions to the task list, then decide which ones belong tomorrow.
You are collecting the work, not committing to do all of it in one day. Leave low-priority ideas available for a later review.
A sample evening capture
Tomorrow I need to send the report, buy groceries, and make the booking. The report draft is ready except for the conclusion. I have a meeting at 10 and an hour free before it.
Choose the first work block
Check appointments and travel before adding flexible tasks. Pick one action that can fit the first available block.
For the sample, drafting the conclusion may fit before the 10 am meeting. Put groceries later and choose a time for the booking when the service is open.
| Evening reset | Sample time | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Review unfinished work | 3 minutes | A next action for each important task |
| Capture new thoughts | 2 minutes | One place for the loose list |
| Check tomorrow’s commitments | 2 minutes | The fixed times are visible |
| Choose the first action | 3 minutes | A work block ready to start |
Save the sequence as a routine
Domi’s routines let you keep recurring structure close at hand. Use the reset as a template: review, capture, check, choose.
If you miss an evening, start with the first action the next morning. Keep the routine small enough to use on an ordinary day.
Questions
Do I need to plan the whole next day?
Start with fixed commitments and one first action. You can fill the remaining work blocks once the day is underway.
Can I reuse the reset in Domi?
Yes. Use a routine for the sequence you want to repeat, then add the day’s specific tasks to your plan.
