Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2025
1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing Plant Identifier (the “App”). Your privacy is important to us (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the App or any related website that links to this policy (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please refrain from using the Services.
2. Information We Collect
Subscription Data
- Anonymous device identifier for subscription management
- Subscription status and purchase receipts
Image Data
- Photos you select for plant identification
- Images are transmitted for one‑time analysis and discarded from our servers shortly afterward
Usage Data
- Scan counts, timestamps, feature interactions, and anonymised crash logs collected through anonymous device IDs
Device Data
- Device type, operating‑system version, App version, language, region, and truncated IP address
We do not collect user accounts, sign-in information, email addresses, biometric templates, precise GPS coordinates, or full payment‑card details.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide Core Features – identify plants and their species, manage scan history, and deliver premium functionality.
- Improve & Secure the App – analyse performance, detect abuse, and fix bugs.
- Communicate With You – send essential notices such as subscription confirmations or material policy changes.
- Legal & Compliance – protect our rights and meet obligations under applicable laws.
4. Third‑Party Service Providers
To operate key features we rely on carefully chosen service providers (“Processors”). We share only the minimum information necessary for each task.
- Payment Platform – handles in‑app purchases using anonymous device identifiers.
- Cloud AI Processing – performs image recognition on resized, depersonalised photos.
- Subscription Infrastructure – synchronises premium status across devices using anonymous device identifiers.
- Analytics & Diagnostics – collects anonymised usage metrics and crash reports through anonymous device IDs.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we contractually require all Processors to safeguard the data they handle.
5. In‑App Purchases
Subscriptions are billed through the platform‑provider’s storefront. We receive only anonymised purchase receipts and never see your complete payment information.
6. Data Storage & Retention
- On‑Device – Scan history, images, and preferences remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
- Cloud – Anonymous device identifiers, minimal usage metrics, and subscription records are kept only as long as needed to operate the Services or comply with law.
- Deletion Requests – Since we do not require user accounts and only collect anonymous device identifiers, there is no personal information stored that can be linked to individual users. All data collected is anonymous by design.
7. Data Security
We employ industry‑standard safeguards—including encryption in transit, secure coding practices, and restricted access—to protect your information. No system can be guaranteed 100 % secure; you use the Services at your own risk.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to profiling or automated decisions. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details below.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. International Transfers
When you use the Services, your information may be processed or stored in countries that may have data‑protection laws less stringent than those in your region. We rely on legally recognised safeguards for such transfers.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in‑app or on our website at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data, email: support@starryapps.com
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy or the Services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
